Are you familiar with organic mints that can be popped in the mouth anytime you want to have fresher breath? Do you go for traditional chewing gum and mouthwash instead? What if you find out that there are essential oil recipes for good breath? Yes, you can wake up in the morning with renewed and high spirits knowing that your breath remains fresh, as if you have just finished brushing your teeth, even when you haven’t.
Why Essential Oil Recipes?
Those breath fresheners, whether in the form of gums or mouth rinses, are made out of artificial flavoring. They also contain alcohol and all sorts of harmful chemicals, leaving your mouth dry, and at the worse, can even result in halitosis. Why settle for these solutions when in fact, you can try essential oil recipes for good morning breath.
What’s the catch with this recommendation? They are all natural, and are easy to make. They are affordable too, much cheaper than traditional breath fresheners that you know of. All you need to do is get a mason jar, whip up the recipe, and say goodbye to bad breath for good. Take a look at the following recipes to help you with.
Peppermint-Essential Oil Solution
This recipe needs half a cup of water, a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of coconut oil, half a teaspoon sea salt, and two to three drops of peppermint essential oil. All you need to do is combine all these ingredients inside the mason jar. Shake to mix all the ingredients, and once done, you can gargle it for one to two minutes after you have brushed your teeth at night. Rinse your mouth with water once you spitted the solution. Store any leftover from the recipe and make sure you shake the jar before each use. You can even keep some of the rinse inside a smaller container that you can easily bring with you anywhere you go for that much-needed afternoon mouth rinse.
Peppermint Oil Substitutes
Using the same ratio of ingredients and instructions as above, you can substitute the peppermint oil with other essential oils. You can either use cinnamon essential oil or wintergreen essential oil. Both are as effective as peppermint essential oil when keeping your breath fresh.
Other Recipes
Create a powerful bad breath potion. You need an amber glass dropper bottle where you can mix three drops of lavender, five drops of tea tree, seven drops of peppermint, and two drops of clove. Simply shake the bottle to mix all ingredients. Add one to three drops of the solution on your tongue then wait a few seconds until you have collected saliva so that you can swish it for a minute. From there, simply spit and rinse the potion for fresher breath.
You can also make an anti-tartar toothpaste using essential oils. Get a non-metal bowl where you can mix four tablespoons of bentonite clay, two tablespoons of coconut oil, one-fourth tablespoon each of sea salt and baking soda, four drops of myrrh, and 10 drops of peppermint. Add filtered water to the mixture just enough to create a paste. You can add liquid stevia too for a sweeter taste. Transfer the mixture to a toothpaste tube and use it each time you brush your teeth.
